For the team behind the streaming service Philo, a strong first impression matters as much in the workplace as on a digital screen. 

As a recruiter at Philo, Alexis Fagin has had the opportunity to experience Philo’s thorough and welcoming onboarding process from both sides. As a new hire, her experience was so positive that it helped assure Fagin she had found the right place to be — confidence she hopes to inspire in others who join the Philo team. 

Fagin credits the palpable passion and collaborative spirit from teammates for helping her feel secure in growing her career at the streaming company.

“I knew I had made the right choice to join during my first team sync,” said Fagin.

What was the onboarding process like for you at Philo?

The onboarding process was seamless and incredibly engaging, making it easy to get up to speed quickly. The team’s clear communication and personalized approach made the experience efficient and enjoyable. My favorite part was the interactive training sessions. They were informative and a great way to connect with the team and understand the company culture firsthand.

 

What pleasantly surprised you after you joined?

After joining, I was surprised by the strong sense of community and collaboration. Philo truly prides itself on cross-functional work. Everyone genuinely supports each other, making it easy to feel like a valued part of the team right away. 

The level of transparency and open communication was also refreshing — it’s clear that leadership truly values input from all levels.

How have you hit the ground running since you joined, and what are you most excited to accomplish over the next quarter or year?

Since joining, I’ve hit the ground running as a sourcer and now recruiter by building strong pipelines, identifying top talent and collaborating closely with hiring teams to meet critical hiring needs. I’ve quickly adapted to the company’s processes and culture, allowing me to make an immediate impact. 

Over the next year, I hope to refine my strategies, expand my network and contribute to building a world-class team that drives the company’s success.

 

What aspect of your professional growth are you most excited to evolve?

I’m most excited to evolve my strategic thinking and relationship-building skills, particularly in sourcing and recruiting top-tier talent. Developing a deeper understanding of industry trends and honing my ability to identify and attract candidates who align perfectly with our company’s vision will be key. I’m also eager to grow as a mentor and collaborator, contributing to a culture of learning and innovation.
