The Naked Market, the parent company behind several food and beverage businesses like as Rob’s Backstage Popcorn and Flock Foods, is adding another brand to its portfolio. Joining the company is Haus, a Northern California-based aperitif company that has been out of business for about a year.
Launched in 2019 by founders Helena Price Hambrecht and Woody Hambrecht, Haus develops low-alcohol beverages using natural ingredients, selling products directly to consumers through its site. Its flavors include Citrus Flower, Pomegranate Rosemary and Grapefruit Jalapeño.
The company had to shut down in August of 2022 after running out of cash. But now, The Naked Market plans to revive the brand and its most popular flavors, as well as expand it into more retail channels. The Naked Market also plans to give 5 percent of Haus back to its previous employees, founders and investors.
“It’s incredibly difficult to build an iconic brand in the food and beverage space, but Haus did so and in short order,” Harrison Fugman, CEO and co-founder of The Naked Market, said in a statement “Our goal in acquiring Haus is to bring an outstanding brand back to market and build off of the strong community it created, with an increased focus on unit economics.”
