With every new business venture comes a parade of lessons to learn — building a customer base, marketing a product and being OK with the occasional failure, for example — and the entrepreneurs who succeed are those who embrace the necessary continuous learning process.
Growing and learning alongside these entrepreneurs is the team at HoneyBook, which offers a variety of tools and services designed to support independent businesses. A joy for continuous learning is especially important to Learning Experience Design Manager Kitzzy Aviles, who revels in the people-first and growth-oriented team culture at HoneyBook.
While continuous learning may seem second nature for a team that helps other businesses learn and grow, a team culture that emphasizes education, skill development and career growth has many tangible benefits for any business — and its employees alike. According to LinkedIn Learning’s Workplace Learning Report, strong learning cultures increase employee retention by 57 percent and employees noted that learning on the job adds purpose and connection to their work.
For job seekers in the San Francisco area looking for a role with learning opportunities, hear from Aviles about what excited her to join the HoneyBook team and the learning culture that keeps her growing every day.
HoneyBook is a client management platform for independent service-based businesses.
What first attracted you to HoneyBook? When did you know it was the right place for you and your career?
I was first attracted to HoneyBook because of its mission to make it easier to run an independent business and live a life filled with passion and purpose. I thrive when I can help empower others to be the best version of themselves, so I jumped at the chance to be part of an education team that enables this vision.
It was obvious from the first time I stepped into the office that everyone at HoneyBook really lives the value of “people come first,” as I immediately felt welcomed and like I was among friends. I stay because there are always new opportunities to raise the bar, and I continue to fall in love with what we do for independent businesses.

Share one exciting challenge or project you are working on right now. What impact will this have on the business?
I was brought in to launch HoneyBook’s first Business Academy, where HoneyBook members can find self-paced and on-demand interactive education that empowers them to make the most of HoneyBook, thus enabling them to grow their business. By providing a combination of HoneyBook education and business best practices, we help them make the right choices for their business.
If your company culture was a car, what would it be, and why?
I don’t know anything about cars, but what I can say about HoneyBook is that we’re a fun place to work where people really care about each other as people first. We push each other to continue to raise the bar while always being willing to lend a helping hand. I’m constantly inspired by others to do my best work and I’m excited for what we’ll accomplish together next. So, whatever kind of car that is, that’s who we are!
