Aetherflux, a San Carlos-based company working to bring space solar power to Earth, announced a $50 million round of Series A funding. The company is working with the U.S. Department of Defense to deliver infrastructure-independent energy to the military.

It’s focused on equipping U.S. forces with electricity in locations where traditional power delivery is impractical or impossible, such as providing the Army and Navy with power that requires less fuel and logistical burden for distributed ground and maritime operations.

The latest round of funding for Aetherflux was led by Index Ventures and Interlagos and follows a period of significant company growth. Having recently received its first government funding and expanded its team and headquarters office, Aetherflux will invest in subscale testing for its core technologies ahead of a low-Earth orbit demonstration in 2026.
