What do Truework, Nurx and Tempus all have in common? We can name two things: Each organization’s product is designed to improve the health and safety of millions of consumers nationwide, and they are all currently hiring. These three teams are working to alleviate key social pain points, from consumer data privacy to cancer research.

If you’re looking for a new role with an energized team making waves in their industry, these three SF companies want to meet you.

What they do: Behavioral data is lucrative — as a consumer, taking back control of data privacy can feel incomplete at best and impossible at worst. Truework aims to improve the safety of income verification by building products that promote transparent transactions, and return data controls to the consumer.

Centrally located: Just blocks to the The Embarcadero, North Beach and the Financial District, Truework is at the center of major transit hubs, historic neighborhood walks and bustling social venues.

Customer-centric club: In May of 2021, Truework joined the Financial Technology Association (FTA), a fintech non-profit trade group whose members include other consumer-centric organizations such as Klarna, Sezzle and Brex.

What they do: If you are among the tens of millions of people who do not have health insurance, accessing important medication like birth control and prescription skin care can be a significant challenge. Nurx believes healthcare should be unconditional — their network of physicians helps individuals order medication discreetly, quickly and affordably, regardless of circumstance.

Led by experts: Nurx’s business decisions are informed by both in-house and independent medical professionals, with experience ranging from the White House Medical Unit to the Search and Rescue Corps for the Norwegian Red Cross.

Driving value with votes: When it comes to product development, Nurx takes an all-hands-on-deck approach. “We started a process where we vote on which ‘can-be-improved’ items to prioritize, and each team member is given a set number of votes. With the introduction of voting, we’ve been able to focus the team and our efforts on high-impact areas,” said Engineering Manager Spencer Spezzano.

What they do: The mission at Tempus — to accelerate cancer research and optimize patient treatments — is driven by ingesting and analyzing trillions of clinical data points, in turn delivering actionable treatment plans. Their library of molecular data is also helping researchers develop potentially breakthrough therapies and drug treatments faster and more efficiently.

All hands on deck: When reviewing products for design updates, Tempus ensures all departments have a say. “We try to involve all relevant teams, including design, product, engineering and marketing, from the early audit stages. Collaboration from the outset allows us to discuss feedback, brainstorm ideas and share knowledge of any upcoming deadlines so everyone is aligned and on track,” said Bri Gonzalez, brand director and lead product designer.

Breaking into devices: In collaboration with fellow healthcare organization Geisinger, Tempus has developed the ECG Analysis Platform, which is designed to aid clinicians in identifying patients at increased risk of developing atrial fibrillation. In March of 2021, the FDA granted the platform Breakthrough Device Designation and an expedited regulatory process, signifying the platform’s potential to support proactive diagnoses.
