While the pandemic has put a bit of a damper on Bay Area tech’s historic hiring spree, there is still plenty of opportunity out there for the intrepid techie. Case in point: the following five companies. Here, we’ve broken each of them down to nuts and bolts: what they do, the tools they do it with and the perks and benefits they offer to support you beyond the (home) office. Whether you’re interested in gaming, SaaS, fintech or sports, we’ve got you covered.
What they’re up to: Freshworks’ customer engagement software offers workflow management tools for a wide range of use cases, including sales, marketing, IT, support and HR. Headquartered in San Mateo and Chennai, India, the company raised $85 million in funding in January, at a $3.5 billion valuation.
Tech toolbox: In addition to a robust data analytics stack based on R and Python, Freshworks uses Atlassian tools like bug tracker Jira and collaboration software Confluence.

What they’re up to: Fanatics pioneered the vertical e-commerce business model — so-called “v-commerce” — that allows sports leagues and teams to design, manufacture and distribute fan gear across multiple channels. Back in 2018 the company signed a ten-year licensing deal with the NFL and Nike, which took effect this year.

What they’re up to: GreenPark Sports builds mobile games and experiences designed to enhance the spectator experience for fans of sports and e-sports. The Burlingame-based company’s flagship offering is a mobile game where users compete to become the “best fans” of their league or season, and recently announced a partnership with League of Legends’ Championship series.
Tech toolbox: GreenPark Sports uses Go on the back end, MongoDB’s Atlas for game data and statistics and the Unity 3D game-building environment.

What they’re up to: N3TWORK builds games for iOS and Android, along with a platform that helps app developers scale their gaming business through user acquisition tech, industry expertise and access to a $50 million growth fund. Last year, the company landed on Built In’s 50 Tech Companies You Should Know.
