The role:
As a Compliance Advisor at SoFi, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our organization's commitment to regulatory compliance, integrity, and innovation. Executing compliance assurance, risk assessment assurance, and issues monitoring / follow-up prior to closure work ensures that ICT delivers on its mandate. Specifically for issues management, the Compliance Advisor will monitor and review action plans and then validate issues prior to closure. The Compliance Assurance function adheres to the quality management framework and the risk management framework and collaborates with key stakeholders.
The Compliance Advisor will be responsible for leading and executing quality assurance (QA) reviews to ensure the quality of the ICT testing of transactions and internal controls across the SoFi enterprise, including SoFi Bank, N.A. The Compliance Advisor will check and challenge work products to improve the testing program in a substantive manner. Additionally, for issues management, Compliance Advisor monitors corrective actions, communicates with the issues owners, receives, checks and challenges corrective action plans, as well as the work products which are intended to fulfill the corrective actions. This person works in tandem with the ICT team for issue closure. The candidate will have deep functional knowledge of applicable US banking laws and regulations, including broker / dealer, BSA/AML, and sanctions laws and regulations.
For issue validation, the Compliance Advisor utilizes outcome testing and audit methods to validate corrective action plans, restitution/remediation, and new compliance metrics for implementation regarding business products, services, and processes, ensuring operational and regulatory compliance. This person will be responsible for documenting, tracking, and preparing executive reports and dashboards, the Compliance Advisor identifies potential enhancements and works to rectify errors, aiming to mitigate the frequency and severity of risks.
The Compliance Advisor will also be responsible for leading and executing QA reviews of the Compliance risk assessments to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the results, as well as all its supporting evidence.
What you'll do:
- Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with relevant Compliance Officers and Business Areas.
- Lead QA reviews to ensure ICT testing adhere to program standards and policies
- Check and challenge ICT reviews including the scope memos, risk assessments, testing plans, field work, work papers, analyses, and reports
- Communicate issues timely as they arise for remediation during the process, and be proactive and professional with stakeholders
- Report QA results and findings to SoFi leaders and stakeholders verbally and in writing
- Maintain QA work papers in the system of record completely and accurately in a timely manner
- Lead risk assessment reviews to ensure completeness and accuracy of Compliance Risk Assessments
- Ensure that risk assessment content is fit for purpose in terms of its inputs, analyses, and outputs, as well as well-supported and fulsome
- Lead issue validation program on behalf of ICT
- Identifying and classifying findings properly; managing and tracking those findings to ensure the business owner remediates the issue; and performing validation and sustainability review/testing to confirm that the finding has been fully addressed
- Analyzing data from multiple sources and systematically documenting the work and results
- Ensure all tasks and reporting are completed within established timeframes, in accordance with the program's validation plan
- Drive innovation through data analytics and technology-enabled solutions to identify regulatory compliance risk exposures and improve funnel efficiency
- Coordinate with various business teams for regulatory exams and internal audits, providing requested data as needed
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 8-10 years of legal, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, federal or state examination, compliance testing or auditing experience, specifically within fintech, financial services, or a regulated banking institution
- Deep knowledge of US banking laws, broker/dealer, BSA/AML and sanctions regulations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Confidence in verbal and written communication skills required; must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to work independently and a strong sense of ownership (methodical, self-starter, hands-on, detail oriented, and big-picture minded), as well as ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing expectations

Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and location.
