The Senior Data Engineer position will report to the Manager of Data Platforms & Analytics Engineering.

As the Senior Data Engineer, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to strategize and implement sustainable data architecture initiatives
  • Provide technical leadership by guiding the team in selecting appropriate technologies, tools, and languages to address technical and business challenges
  • Design and implement tooling and abstraction patterns for orchestrating transformations in ELT processes, utilizing technologies such as Airflow and DBT
  • Set up and maintain data infrastructure using Ansible and Terraform, implementing monitoring and logging solutions to ensure system reliability and performance
  • Collaborate closely with analytics engineers and data analysts to provide support in building and optimizing data pipelines for analytics and reporting purposes
  • Facilitate cross-functional requirements gathering sessions with engineering, product management, analytics, and data science teams to understand and address data needs
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for data engineering processes, including data ingestion, transformation, and storage, to ensure clarity and transparency within the team and across stakeholders

  • Strategizes with senior leadership to implement sustainable data architecture initiatives, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Guides team in selecting technologies to address technical and business challenges, providing technical leadership.
  • Ensures data reliability and quality by ingesting diverse data sources, orchestrating transformations, and maintaining robust infrastructure for optimized analytics pipelines.

About You: 

  • 5+ years of experience in building and managing data pipelines, data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake), and backend services
  • 3+ years of experience with Python
  • 3+ years with OLTP databases such as Postgresql, MySQL
  • 3+ years with OLAP databases such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift
  • 3+ years with AWS cloud technologies such as S3, EC2, etc.
  • 2+ years experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow (preferred), Microsoft Azure, etc.
  • 2+ years working with container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience with server-side concepts (e.g. microservices, database, caching, performance, monitoring and scalability)
  • Familiarity with data governance best practices

Even Better:

  • DBT experience
  • Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, Looker, Qlik, etc.
  • Domain experience developing software for Fintech, Banking, or related Consumer Financial Services companies

We are showcasing a range of your potential base salary, determined primarily based on a candidate’s location. Earnest takes a market-based approach, categorizing U.S. locations into one of five zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will also be determined based on job-related qualifications, internal compensation, and budget. This range may be modified in the future.
